About Fiji Sugar Corporation

Fiji Sugar Corporation Limited (FSC) is the government-owned sugar milling company in Fiji, established in 1973. It holds a monopoly on raw sugar production in the country and operates three sugar mills located in Lautoka, Ba (Rarawai), and Labasa. The company plays a significant role in the local economy, employing around 1,700 people during peak crushing season and nearly 3,000 overall, with many more relying on it for their livelihoods in rural sugar cane areas. FSC is responsible for the manufacture and sale of raw sugar, with molasses as a by-product. The company has traditionally focused on bulk sugar sales to international markets and is now exploring new premium products as part of its marketing strategy. Governed by a board of directors appointed by the government, FSC operates within a structured framework that includes various industry bodies to coordinate activities and address disputes.
